Next Limit´s first area of research and development was in Fluids and Dynamics simulation which resulted in the RealFlow software, now used extensively for Visual Effects in Films and Television.

RealFlow is a comprehensive toolkit for fluid and dynamics simulation that makes it easy to experiment with, control and visualize the behavior of fluids and rigid bodies and their interaction with a surrounding environment. RealFlow was the first, and remains the definitive tool for creating dramatic, accurate and realistic simulation effects in the Visual Effects Industries (notably in feature films and television commercials).

A recent addition to the RealFlow technology is the RealFlow Renderkit.    The RealFlow RenderKit (RFRK) is a set of tools that has been designed to facilitate the complex task of rendering RealFlow™ fluids. RFRK enables you to generate procedural geometry at render time, and also render individual fluid particles. As a result, the RFRK will dramatically simplify and accelerate the RealFlow™ workflow.

RealFlow has been used in many movies and feature films like “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King”, “Sweeney Todd” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, as well as numerous short films, animations and advertisements.
