1. Are RF4 plug-ins compatible with RF3? The answer is no. RF4 plug-ins can read information coming from RF3, but RF3 can't read information coming from RF4 plug-ins. If by any chance you need the old RF3 plug-ins contact us at support 2. What is RealFlow? RealFlow is a fluid & dynamics simulation software. It consists of a standalone program and a set of plug-ins to import and export data to the most popular 3D applications (see the plug-ins section). 3. Is RealFlow a plug-in? No. RealFlow is a standalone program that uses plug-ins to communicate with your 3D package. 4. What is a “standalone”? A standalone is software that runs independently from any other product. 3D Studio Max, Maya, XSI, Lightwave, Cinema4D and Houdini are standalone products. RealFlow4 is also a standalone product. 5. How does RealFlow work? a) You make a scene in your 3D package b) export the scene in a format readable by RealFlow c) import the scene in RealFlow d) setup and run the simulation e) save the result as mesh or particles f) finally load the result in your 3D package. g) You can apply scripts to improve the functionality of RF4
6. How do I get a demo of the latest version? Go to the NL homepage, choose Product > Try RF and fill out the form. Then you´ll get a download link for your evaluation copy. 7. How does the pricing structure work for RealFlow4? You can take a look at the price list where you’ll find different options available depending on your needs.
8. Do you have a User Forum? We have an official forum for scripting issues here:
There is an extensive, dedicated, unofficial RealFlow forum at: realflow forum
There are various other CG community forums on the the internet where you can discuss more general RF-related questions.
Besides, if you have a question that isn't covered in these FAQs, please feel free to contact us at support 9. Do you offer production support? Yes, we do offer this service. So please contact sales if you are interested. 10. Where can I get the plug-ins? They are located in the same webpage where you downloaded the RF demo from. 11. Why do you only have a scripting-related forum? The main intention of the scripting forum is to encourage people to use this feature. Python scripting is a powerful tool and difficult to understand or use... but it scares a lot of artists that are not into coding. This forum was not created with customer care or technical support in mind, because we have other tools and services for that.
So, for general questions the best is contacting us at support
12. My School/University would like to purchase educational licenses of your software. Are they available? Yes, we do have educational versions of the software available for schools, universities, 3D Learning Centers and students. To enquire about educational licenses, please contact sales
